The Guardian of the Fiord
Fernando Aramburu was born in San Sebastián in 1959. He graduated in Spanish Language from the University of Zaragoza, and has lived in Germany since 1985, where he works as a Spanish teacher. He is now considered one of the most outstanding writers of his generation, and has received many awards, including the Ramón Gómez de la Serna Prize in 1997, the Euskadi Prize, 2001, and his short story book "Los peces de la amargura" was awarded the Mario Vargas Llosa NH Prize, the Dulce Chacón and the Real Academia Española Prize. The film "Bajo las estrellas" based on his novel "El trompetista del Utopia" was awarded the Goya Prize for best adapted screenplay in 2008.
