A work which aims to offer an introduction to the complex world of Biblical prophecy. The first part looks at the figure of the prophet through his very different aspects (anthropological, theological and social). The second traces the history of the prophetic movement in Israel, putting great stress not only on the prophets known by name (Isaiah, Jeremiah etc), but also the multitude of unknown authors who transmitted, completed and published the oracles of their predecessors. The third part pulls out a series of threads related to the message of the prophets to demonstrate their currency: idolatry, justice, cults, historical vision, Messianism.
