ADHA is one of the most controversial syndromes in current child psychopatholog. Many children are diagnosed with ADHD and treated almost exclusively with drugs, with the risk this implies of the problem becoming medicalized and chronic. Pharmacological treatment without a psychological approach can lead to an improvement in symptoms, but it does not contribute to a maturing or provide the progress we would like.
This book aims to reflect on the causes, diagnosis and treatment of this syndrome, bearing in mind the complexity of early brain function, the structuring of thought, especially attention, and the interaction between a child’s vulnerabilities and the influence of its surroundings.
