Mariona Cabassa studied illustration and graphic design at the Escuela Massana in Barcelona (Premio Extraordinario 2000). In 2000 she did a postgraduate course in illustration and engraving at l’École des Arts Déco (Strasbourg) and another at l’École des Beaux Arts (Marseille).
Since 2001 she has worked for both Spanish and foreign publishers. Her work has appeared in magazines and newspapers.
I currently combine my work as an illustrator with teaching in various art and design schools in Barcelona.
In 2003 she was awarded a prize by the Asociación Profesional de Ilustradores de Catalunya (APIC) for Libro para contar mientras se come un huevo frito (Book for Counting While You Eat A Fried Egg, Editorial Kalandraka) and in 2009 for Adivina adivinanza tengo un cero en la panza (Editorial Anaya).
In 2005 she was chosen to take part in Bologna in the exhibition and catalogue “Illustrísimos”, dedicated to Spanish illustration, organised by the Asociación de Ilustradores and the Ministry of Culture as part of the 22a Mostra Internazionale d´Illustrazione per l´Infanzia” of the Fondazione Cassamarca.
