This book arises from a collective discussion which suggested articulating the concepts of wandering and writing as a way to read some texts published in recent years by Latin American writers: Roberto Bolaño, Pedro Lemebel, Horacio Castellanos Moya, Mauritius Rosencof, Sergio Pitol, Martín Kohan, Mayra Santos Febres and Eduardo Lalo, among others. It is as if solidarity between wandering and writing implied new patterns of memory, thus returning again and again, to various forms of violence and even cruelty: it resorts to conspiracy, transvestism and disease; it recreates or directly dreams of ancient city geography and often tends to recovery and moving -as translation- of key cultural traditions. It assumes then a reader willing, in turn, to wander, to build routes to establish their personal in and out areas –never final- better starting points for other itineraries to restart, never conclusive, since they can always open to other perspectives: retrieve a word search capable of transcending the limits of language and communicate across borders and territories crossed by suppression, fragmentation, violence and secret worlds.
