The Era of the Mystics
Mabela Ruiz-Gallardón is a Spanish writer who was born in Madrid in 1970. Mabela graduated in Law then studied a doctorate in Philosophy of Law at Madrid Computense University. She has written various articles and monographs about legal philosophy, as well as regularly contributing to the newspaper La Gaceta de los Negocios. She began her literary career with the publication of her first novel, Lady Smith, pasión y valor en tiempos de guerra, in 2008, a novel that recalls Galdós and combines love, battles and journeys in its historical setting of the Napoleonic invasion of Spain, relating the adventures of the heroine from Badajoz, Juana María de los Dolores Ponce de León. Her following book, El lenguaje prohibido de los aromas, was published in 2009 by Martínez Roca and is a detective novel that revolves around the character of Casilda, an exceptional perfumer.
