Lorenzo Silva (Madrid, 1966) studied law and practised that profession for several years in a number of large companies until, in 2002, he decided to become a full time writer. He quickly became a successful author, particularly for his novels: La flaqueza del bolchevique (The Frailty of the Bolshevik), which was shortlisted for the Premio Nadal, El nombre de los nuestros (The Name of One of Us), shortlisted for the Premio Ciudad de Cartagena for Historical Novels, Carta blanca (Carte Blanche), Premio Primavera 2004 and for his Civil Guard crime series “Bevilacqua y Chamorro”: El lejano país de los estanques (The Distant Land of Lakes), Ojo Crítico prize 1998, El alquimista impaciente (The Impatient Alchemist) which won the Nadal Prize in 2000, La niebla y la doncella (The Mist and the Maiden), La reina sin espejo (The Queen Without a Mirror) , El blog del inquisidor (The Investigator's Blog) y la La estrategia del agua (The Water Strategy), all published by Destino. La marca del meridiano (The Print of Midday) won the Planeta Prize in 2012
