An eccentric but respected Barcelona writer of advanced years turns up at her brother's house and casually informs him "As you can imagine, I'm here to die". Another woman, forty years of age and in mid crisis, throws herself into her lover's arms in search of a desperate way out of the confusion she lives in. The women find themselves forced to help each other in an extreme situation. They know they have almost nothing in common, but little by little they form an intangible bond. Obsessed by the older woman, the younger one searches in her past to try to understand the legend she was, and to, perhaps, see how that legend ended. The novel is the portrait of an unpredictable, fascinating creative personality and the chronicle of her decline, in a series of moments of dementia and lucidity, of tenderness and ecstasy, illuminated by the hope to find redemption in literature.
