The book tells the story of Isabel, a Colombian woman who lost her husband and brother and witnessed the violent kidnapping of her son at the hands of FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia). She and her family have been the victims of an infamous persecution in the south-west of Colombia by the FARC. Father, wife, children, siblings and cousins experience all kinds of mistreatment which culminates in the murder of some of them and the forced exile of others due to the cruelty to which they are subjected. The story recreates terrifying details and also reflects the cruel lack of defence experienced by the victims whom the state does not protect as it should do. But this is not a work of fiction, everything that happens in every paragraph of this book is real, not a single line stems from the author's imagination.
