The protagonist of this novel is curious and inexperienced and has an unusual, almost supernatural gift, that makes him different from everyone else. He also has an unlimited passion for the different languages of the world. He lives in Perpignan in the middle of the 19th century, and his gift and his passion will take him in directions he could never have imagined, to a Paris in the midst of the Franco-Prussian war and the Paris Commune's revolution. Not long afterwards, the wind of adventure will carry him to New Caledonia, where he'll have to overcome several challenges whilst living among the colonisers and the indigenous people in order to move forward with his life. Far from his homeland and his beloved, he will wonder what his gift is worth if all it brings him is complications and challenges. Between classic adventure and the literary genre, 'El navegant' ('The Navigator') tells the story of the special journey of a young Catalan with a unique talent.
