This circular story uses simple language to tell the story of the relationship between a boy and the small tree he loves and cares for with the school friends who follow his example. Although the schoolchildren are initially reticent, their teacher herself finally joins forces with them, and they manage to catch the attention of botanists. Although the tale unfolds in the small physical space of the schoolyard, Emilio Urberuaga locates readers in different viewpoints and shows the passage of time through the comings and goings of the characters, changes in the weather and the growth of the tree. The illustrations are colourful, the scenes expressive, and the presence of extra-textual elements enrich the visual reading.
