The Weight of a Soul introduces us to detective Milton Vértebra, a character prone to excessive behaviour, a loser who has always thought that winning was simply another form of defeat, perhaps the cruellest form. He may have been expelled from the National Police but, thanks to his enthusiasm, skill, prestige and accumulated experience, he finds himself submerged into a complex case where the scientific interests of a famous neurosurgeon, Luis Corral, the disappearance of his colleague Tancin Cadman and the moral principles of people around him, together with his determination to achieve success and professional recognition, collide, leaving a trail of mysterious deaths. It is a case that will lead Vértebra into one of the worse nightmares of his life.
