Just over a century ago, a family left Sorrento and moved to the Argentine city of Mar del Plata, to open a hotel and later a trattoria near the beach. This could be the story of any of the many families who immigrated at that time, except that this family played a particularly important part in Argentina's culture: its members invented 'los sorrentinos', a kind of pasta which is now eaten all over the country. As in the best comedies, everything is mixed up in Los Sorrentinos: laughter with tears, the fate of a family with that of a country and a well-lived life with the most fortunate of inheritances.
