Based on the true story of the great Cantabrian cyclist Vicente Trueba, nicknamed The Flea of Torrelavega. He was the first King of the Mountain in the history of the Tour de France (in 1933) and one of the Spanish pioneers who demonstrated their prowess beyond the Pyrenees. Using a chorus of fictitious voices, the book revisits different episodes in Vicente Trueba's life. A neighbour, a French journalist, an Italian sprinter or a fellow militia member from the time of the Civil War... all these characters contribute to a polyphonic conversation in which stories about The Flea are interpolated with other aspects of cycling and society in heroic times. This book reveals how members of cycling caravan of the 1930s lived, trained, competed and felt.
