Somebody Has To Cry Again
Marilyn Bobes León (La Habana, 1955) is a true institution in Cuba. For many readers she is the voice of female literature on the largest island of the Antilles. With a style all her own unmoved by the whims of the market, she is a poet, story-teller and journalist specialising in cultural matters. Her poetry collections include 'La aguja en el pajar' ('The Needle in the Haystack') (1979) and 'Hallar el modo' ('Finding the Way') (1989) among others. Her short story collection 'Alguien tiene que llorar' ('Somebody Has To Cry') won the Premio Casa de las Américas when it was first published in 1995. Her stories have featured in anthologies and have been published in Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, Spain and France. This new 2018 edition, 'Alguien tiene que llorar otra vez' ('Somebody Has To Cry Again') has won the Primer Premio Editorial Guantanamera. It was selected as the winner by the prestigious Carmen Balcells Literary Agency.
