This is the story of two journeys that take place at the same time and that overlap in this sensitive and delicate book: a mother duck and her duckling set off on a migratory journey towards warm southern lands while a family who live in a war zone flee to the north. The stories of both journeys combine to depict the fear of the young travellers faced with challenges, the harsh weather conditions that impact on their flight and journey, meeting other people on their respective travels, the lack of food, predators and mafia groups, the despondency brought about by fatigue contrasted with the hope and confidence that adults try to impart. And eventually, the greatest challenge, crossing the sea, the point at which the travellers' paths will cross, but with different fates.
