Pola Oloixarac was born in Bueno Aires in 1977. She studied philosophy at the University of Buenos Aires and is the author of "Las teorías salvajes" [Savage Theories], translated into six languages, and "Las constelaciones oscuras" [Dark Constellations]. In 2010, Granta named her as one of the best female writers in Spanish and she was awarded a grant from the Fondo Nacional de las Artes. She wrote the libretto for the opera "Hércules en el Mato Grosso" which was shown in the Centro de Experimentación del Teatro Colón, Buenos Aires (2014) and in New York (2015). She has received grants from the International Writing Program in Iowa, Banff, Yaddo, Amsterdam Writer in Residence and Dora Maar amongst others. She writes articles for the New York Times amongst others and edits the digital bilingual magazine Buenos Aires Review.
