In this novel a man and a woman attempt to move forward with an absolute love, for which they must face everything and everyone. Destiny has already traced an ending for them, against which they both rebel. Women have also had to shake off destiny as it tried to submit them to their roles as mothers, wives and daughters. The main character of Los confines ironizes on the roles of heroines of other novels, Karenina, Bovary or Fortunata: how their creators end up making them pay for their infidelity with a violent death, or for having flaunted a right, which was until then only enjoyed by men: to be free to decide not only about their own lives or something as intimate as their own bodies, but also something as public as moving in egalitarian conditions in public spaces. Neither Tolstoy, Galdós nor Flaubert would have known what to do with them alive. For this reason, more than just assuming a female voice, the author puts an ear to the door to truthfully relate the struggle upheld by all women in an unmistakable, determined and beautiful voice.
