George Orwell was born in British India in 1903. A journalist, literary critic and novelist, he was one of the most influential voices of the twentieth century. Among his works are: Down and Out in Paris and London (1933) and The Road to Wigan Pier (1937). In 1943 he joined the Tribune newspaper as literary editor. A chronicler of his time and always faithful to his socialist ideas, Orwell's legacy includes Animal Farm (1945) and 1984 (1948). Luis Scafati was born in Mendoza in 1947. He studied Arts at the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo. His works are included in the collections of major museums, such as the National Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Argentina; the House of Humor and Satire in Bulgaria; and the University of Essex in England. In 1981 he won the Gran Premio de Honor at the National Drawing Salon, the highest distinction a cartoonist/illustrator can obtain in Argentina.
