CARMEN GIL

She began writing books in 2003, and has since published more than 90 works, many of them translated into various languages, or sold in Spanish speaking territories. She specialises in children's literature, combining this work with teaching and cultural work with children. She has been involved in theatre projects, puppet shows, storytelling, dance workshops, etc. She teaches poetry courses in primary schools and gives talks to families and teachers on encouraging reading. She works with various institutions (Instituto Cervantes, Centro Andaluz de las Letras, autonomous governments, universities…) giving lectures and meeting readers. In 2011 the Junta de Andalucía awarded her the Gold Medal for Merit in Education for her work in encouraging reading.
