LLuís Prats was born in Terassa in 1966. He studied Art and Archeology at the UAB and at the University of Girona. For several years he worked in research. He has worked for many years as a secondary school teacher, as an editor of art books and running a film production company in Los Angeles. He has published more than twenty books, from YA novels to history essays. In 2018 he won the prestigious Strega Ragazzi prize for Hachicko, which had already won the Josep M. Folch i Torres award in 2014, has sold more than 300,000 copies around the world and been translated into nine languages. In 2019 Prats won the Ramon Muntaner award for his novel Kambirí, the Guillem Cifre de Colonya award for Corporació d'alienìgenes (Alien Corporation) and the second Folch i Torres for Querido monstruo (Dear Monster)
