The raven's pride
When I was seven years old, my parents’ role as missionaries took us to live in Cameroon. There I discovered a new world where I felt strangely welcome, as if in my natural habitat. We spent thirteen months in the north of the country – in the middle of the savannah near the border with Chad, which was at war at the time – and eight months in the central south, in a small rural village surrounded by dense jungle. During this time I had the chance to immerse myself completely in the local culture. The Cameroonian storytelling tradition was and still is primarily oral, and I soon realised that if I wanted the people I met there to carry on telling me their stories and legends I would have to start sharing mine with them too. I've been writing and telling stories ever since. I live in Cantabria, Spain, in the beautiful town of Selaya.
