Designers work with a number of techniques and processes to build, shape, sculpt, decorate, draw or treat textiles. However, even though it may seem obvious that textiles are part of the basis of clothes, the creation, development and manipulation of materials are generally hidden aspects in the art of fashion. Printing is a basic part of the designers' job, and skills and creativity are required when defining motifs as well as a knowledge of existing techniques and possibilities in order to apply them directly onto the raw material.
