Joan Garriga Bacardí was born in Bellpuig (Lleida, Spain) in 1957. He has a degree in Psychology from the University of Barcelona.
He trained in Humanist Therapy, specialising in Gestalt therapy, PNL, the Ericksonian approach and performance and body-based methods.
Since 1986 he has been founder and co-director of the Institut Gestalt de Barcelona. He is a disciple of Claudio Naranjo and works with him on his SAT programmes of Integrative Psychotherapy.
In 1999 he introduced Bert Hellinger and his work on Family Constellations to Spain, broadcasting them widely and becoming one of the leading exponents of this kind of therapy in Spain and Latin America, where he gives many workshops.
He has published articles on psychotherapy and supportive relationships in specialist magazines and worked on Claudio Naranjo's vanguard Gestalt book. He has published several books.
