El Señor Fortuny is an illustrated book which immerses itself in the work of an artist in order to show us his creative process. Mariano Fortuny Madrazo was born into a family with many links to the art world, and growing up in this environment awoke his artistic restlessness and enabled him to travel widely. He set up his workshop, and later his home, in the Palazzo Pesaro-Orfei in Venice (now the Fortuny Museum). While never ceasing to paint, he was also interested in music, photography and theatre. This interest in the theatrical world lead him to experiment with related disciplines: he created new stage sets and lighting, and new colours for textile printing, which marked the beginning of his extraordinary adventure in the world of fashion.
