Hélene has experienced great love and sexual passion with her husband. When their two children are born, however, he starts to lose interest in her as a lover. She can't bear it. Another woman, who has left her family in Spain in order to find herself, observes with interest from her balcony as this mother drags her kids to school without really seeing them, an absent look in her eyes. This novel is constructed from the sincere voices with no concessions of these two women who end up encountering each other in prison, where one of them visits the other (Hélene), who has been jailed for parricide. A novel rich in symbolism and reflections on the maternal instinct, women, art and the different ways of loving.
