The Marquess of Torregrossa reads an article in the newspaper that worries him. It's Tuesday the 24th of March, 1964. The ex-legionnaire Francisco de Paula Goyanes would rather take a sip of liquor than go back to the barracks where he lives; he just wants to be left in peace. When he drinks he ends up talking more than he should and this is dangerous. The journalist Celestino Sánchez-Pereda counts the money he's accumulated over the last few years. It's a lot, but he needs more. He puts a sheet of paper in the typewriter and starts to compose an article. He knows it might annoy a few people, but it's difficult to get anywhere without annoying anyone. Finally, Colonel Manuel Asensio puts his cards on the table and smiles. He likes winning, and he especially likes watching other people lose. The Civil War created losers, but also winners.
