Gaspar Cassadó (1897 - 1966) was one of the most internationally famous and most important cellists of the twentieth century. His virtuosity and musicality made him a unique performer who was particularly outstanding for helping to expand and spread musical literature for cello. Cassadó was also a composer and many of his works have been assimilated into the repertoire of great instrumentalists.
