Claudia and the Spirit of the Mountain
Maria Josep Picó y Garcés (Sagunto, 1973) is a journalist, writer and scientific educator. After gaining a degree in Information Sciences and working in various media, she specialised in environmental issues for the newspaper Levante-El Mercantil Valenciano. Later, she moved to Barcelona to set up and direct the magazine Nat, which educates the public about nature, the environment and science, published by Sàpiens Publicacions. In 2005 she won the Premio Nacional de Periodismo Ambiental (for environmental journalsim), awarded by the Ministerio del Medio Ambiente and she now works in the Departement for the Understanding of Science at the Universidad de Valencia. She also works for media such as Levante-EMV, with her column and blog Ecosystems , other newspapers in the Editorial Prensa Ibérico group and the magazine Mètode.
