This book covers psychosocial addictions for which no chemical substance is responsible, and its criteria are twofold: scientific and humanist. It is aimed at a wide and varied audience, and written with simple, easily intelligible language. The social addictive disorder constitutes a specific form of disease that evolves progressively, and is often associated with a depressive state. It is moreover a disorder which transcends the psychosocial environment, in the form of relationship breakdown, economic crisis, loss of employment and other damaging effects on the quality-of-life of the sufferer and those close to them. There are two parts to the book: one general, dedicated to addiction, classification, risk factors, a therapeutic guide and the relationship between addiction and dependency, abuse and compulsion; and one specialised, in which other drugs are independently studied.
