Maruja Torres (Barcelona, 1943) is one of Spain’s best-known journalists. She has published 2 humorous novels, a travel book and a collection of articles. Un calor tan cercano (1997) and her memoirs as a journalist, Mujer en guerra (1999), were highly successful. Mientras vivimos won the Premio Planeta in 2000 and consolidated her position as one of the most outstanding novelists, as did Hombres de lluvia (2004) and La amante en guerra (2007). She was awarded the Gold Medal in Fine Arts for her contribution to culture (2006) and Esperadme en el cielo won the Premio nadal in 2009. Facíl de matar (2011) was her first incursion into the noir novel. A columnist in El País, her blog has over 100,000 followers and has around 5,000 visits a day.
With Mientras vivimos, which won the Premio Planeta in 2000 and sold half a million copies, Maruja Torres coonsolidated her position as one of the most outstanding authors of our day, validated by Hombres de lluvia (2004) and La amante en guerra (2007). In 2006 she was awarded the Gold Medal in Fine Arts for her contribution to culture. Esperedme en el cielo was awarded the Premio Nadal in 2009.
