This book is a collection of historical essays, published by the author in several reviews and books, along almost two decades, which share the focus on the “gaze of the Other” towards Spain and Spaniards, in the period between the Enlightenment and Romanticism. In this sense, the author manages to discuss a fundamental era in Spanish history from a Cultural History approach, adding some external viewpoints to the perspective of the indigenous historian and making it broader and richer.
