This novel tells the bleak story of women who are kept in captivity by the human trafficking mafia for the purposes of sexual exploitation. The story of the main character is based on one of the individuals featured in the documentary "Chicas Nuevas 24 horas" ("New Girls 24 Hours") by cinematographer and director Mabel Lozano. Deceived. Raped. Abused. Forced into prostitution at the age of sixteen... Luna takes us to the jungle in the south-east of Peru, the Madre de Dios region, where twenty per cent of boys, girls and teenagers are the victims of trafficking for sexual exploitation, or in the case of the boys, slave labour. They do not have access to their own documentation. They do not have freedom of movement. They cannot communicate with other people. They are forced to have sexual relations with an average of ten men per day. They are paying off a debt that includes the price of their journey to and their stay in the same place where they are sold...
