In July 1668, the city of Portobelo, the port from which of all American treasures left for Spain, was captured by the privateer Henry Morgan. What none of his men expected was to find in an abandoned hostel the tortured corpse of a Spaniard and, hidden under the floor, documents pointing to the existence of priceless treasure hidden in the bowels of Panama City. A handful of pirates, led by Morgan himself, will do everything possible to capture the "Noble City of Panama." A judge and his clerk will discover an unexpected witness to the events, leading them down a path full of crime and corruption. Pirates, judges, friars, prostitutes, murderers, slaves and runaways. All are puppets in a deadly game where Panama City will itself be the final price of solving a murder in Portobelo.
